Rinoa Heartilly is the daughter of a Galbadian general named Caraway and Julia Heartilly, a singer who became famous with her song, Eyes on me. Her mother died in a car accident when Rinoa was five years old and over the years she grew apart from her father. At age seventeen, she was a member of a resistance group, the Timber Owls, who are fighting to liberate the city of Timber from Galbadian rule. After hiring Squall, Zell and Selphie to help her in an attempt to kidnap Vinzer Deling, she becomes embroiled in their mission to stop Sorceress Edea.

  THE SORCERESS
At the end of the group’s second battle with Edea and her knight, Seifer Almasy, Rinoa is stricken by sudden and mysterious coma. Squall decides that the only course of action is to travel to Esthar and find Ellone. Finding that Ellone was in space on the Lunar Base, Squall and Rinoa are shot into space to find her. There, Rinoa awakens just as mysteriously and, as if in a trance, leaves the base in a space-suit to release the evil Sorceress Adel from her frozen tomb. Squall manages to save her from floating out into space and they are rescued by the abandoned ship, the Ragnarok. Rinoa confesses that she has inherited Edea’s sorceress power and is now a sorceress herself. She was acting under the influence of Ultimecia who had taken over her body. Fearing for her friends, she agrees to be imprisoned like Adel had been, but is saved by Squall. Now a sorceress, Rinoa vows to help her friends defeat the arcane sorceress from the future who threatens their present.

This emblematic girl doesn't hide her feelings but hide her emotions because she doesn't want to be alone anymore, she needs someone to protect her and sometimes needs someone to protect.
